IRAQ PROTEST US PRESENCE (TIME MAGAZINE)

“The Pentagon disclosed on Friday that 34 U.S. service members suffered traumatic brain injury in Iran’s missile strike this month on an Iraqi air base…

Eight of the injured arrived in the United States on Friday from Germany, where they and nine others had been flown days after the Jan. 8 missile strike on Iraq’s Ain al-Asad air base. The nine still in Germany are receiving treatment and evaluation….

Trump said, “I heard they had headaches and a couple of other things … and I can report it is not very serious.”

WHAT?

I was very outraged when I read the above from various sources, BBC, Politico and Time. In fact I expressed an opinion that veterans could not accept this reaction from our Commander and Chief. Even impeachment may not be such a tragedy after all.

THE OLD DEMOCRATIC PARTY

Background: I am not a Republican, I am an independent. At one time I shared a lot of the ideals of the Democratic party until a can of mixed nuts took over the party, and globalist (Soros), were using the party to achieve their agenda.

I believed in many of the social issues of the old Democratic party. America first to me meant providing for the poor, the incarcerated, the mentally ill, and the unemployed.

I feel all the above disfranchised persons should received extensive counseling, treatment, followed by training and returning them to America’s workforce and our society, rehabilitated, and productive. I am not a Socialist, but I am far from being a Libertarian or Ayn Rand nut.

TRUMP FOR PRESIDENT?

I supported Trump for President when he was nominated against Hillary Clinton. Not primarily for the corruption, and detrimental foreign policy, while she was head of the State Department, and her questionable actions going way back. I supported a new vision and good world citizen image of America. And World Peace.

I supported President Trump because I knew he would not continue America’s failed foreign policy of the past two decades and beyond. Our State Department had become almost independent, and our primary foreign policy maker. Even before Hillary Clinton.

I also supported President Trump because he was a successful businessman and we needed a negotiator and manager for America’s interest. Not failed shadow imperialism. Someone who could repair our, ‘My way or the highway’ attitude toward Russia, China and other threats. Someone who could negotiate away from adversarial relations to new trade partners and stability. World Peace.

President Trumps reaction to the Iranian Missile Attack, and his comments appeared as weakness to me at the time. Of course neither I, you, or other non-radical media have the whole picture. But what became quickly apparent was our continued presence in the area. Iraq’s parliament, which appears to have become under a greater Shiite control, voted for removal for all foreign troops from Iraq, though not binding.

Very large Anti-America sentiment followed by very large protest was flourishing in Iraq. Nancy Pelosi through legislation was trying to tie the Presidents hands on any response to the Iranian Attacks. Upsetting the balance of power, and the authority of our Commander and chiefs taking initial response to threats against our interest.

Politics was also a large player. Not necessarily the bizarre impeachment foolishness, but the upcoming congressional elections. Therefore, a strong military reaction to Iran carried some thoughtful consequences, not apparent to me at first glance.

The President could have been more forthright with the American people, and certainly not by downplaying our real injured American troops. He could have leveled with us by stating the strategic issues, and the poor timing for retaliation.

SHALL I GO OR SHALL I STAY

Thus, shall be go or shall we stay, or shall we retaliate against Iran now? We have strong and “faithful” allies in the area, who would be propelled into many new dangers by our evacuation from Iraq. Such as Saudi Arabia, Israel, Jordan and Turkey. Regardless of Iraq’s; “throwing the baby out with the bathwater.”, Iraq would likely be attacked and absorbed by Iran, with the vacuum of America’s departure. Possibly prior to the US election. Politics shows up almost everywhere.

What I propose would take a very courageous leader, who would forego the immense criticism from multi directions. Military, Political, Allies, Veterans, et al. However, President Johnson faced the same crisis when he abandoned South Vietnam. In fact, it likely was this burden that forced him to not run for re-election.

We should pull 100% out of Iraq, Afghanistan and Syria immediately. Maybe build some paved roads for the Iranian Army to use for their certain invasion. If we could negotiate with Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, or Israel for a large multi-force US Airbase in one of these nations, it would enable a less destabilized mid-east. If not then they will have to pay for their security, as will the world that depends on the area’s petroleum, and sea routes. (We would likely want to protect the sea routes and could do so.)

Does President Trump want to be this leader, would he do it for America at the cost of re-election?

I don’t know. God Bless America.
